Before you call a program

A few questions save you money and time.

Ask about free training

Nursing homes on this list often train for free if they hire you first. See how free CNA training works.

Get the total price

Ask what tuition includes: books, scrubs, background check, and your first try at the state exam.

Ask about schedules

Many programs offer evening, weekend, or hybrid classes with the classroom part online.

Program finder questions

Are these programs state-approved?

Yes. Every program comes from the official approved list for its state, as shown on our state CNA pages. Lists change, so confirm with the program and your state before you enroll.

Why does a nursing home show up as a program?

Many nursing homes run their own state-approved CNA training. If a nursing home hires you, or offers you a job, before training starts, it can't charge you for it.

How accurate are the distances?

Distances are straight-line estimates from the center of your ZIP code area to the program's city. For exact travel time, use a map app. "Use my location" gives a more precise starting point.

A program near me isn't listed. Why?

Some programs train only their own staff, some are new, and a few states share partial lists. Your state page has the full list we found, and you can tell us about a program we're missing.

Can I train in a neighboring state?

Yes, but you'll be certified in the state where you train and test. If you plan to work across the line, you'd then transfer by reciprocity.
