North Carolina requires at least 75 hours of state-approved Nurse Aide I training, including at least 16 hours of hands-on practical training. The NC DHHS Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) approves programs and keeps the Nurse Aide I Registry.

How long is Nurse Aide I training in North Carolina?

The NNAAP exam, given by Credentia. You get 3 attempts within 2 years of training.
How do I renew my Nurse Aide I listing?
Every 2 years, work at least 8 paid hours as a nurse aide under RN supervision and send the signed Employment Verification form.
Can I get CNA training for free in North Carolina?
Yes. A nursing home can't charge you if it employs you or has offered you a job. NCWorks may also pay if you qualify.
